Wow, I'm blogging...

sigh.
Wiki
Write about your experiences using wikis:
So far my experience with wikis is limited to Wikipedia and some other online wikis, this wiki, and the Youth Services Reader's Advisory wiki.
In the future, how do you see yourself using a wiki?
Wikis can be a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. They're a bit more flexible than blogging in that respect: you can add photos, remove items, update regularly (and display not necessarily in chronological order), and encourage others to update your page with you. I see myself using a wiki in my personal life.
How do you see Arlington Library using wikis?
I can see APL using wikis as bait for a super prize during camp! Oh, and they can also be a good outlet for staff creativity; they could be used as a community forum for the public library; or they could be used to update policies, procedures, and other things on the intranet (more) easily.
IM
I did this for a school project unbeknowst to our staff and boy - did they do great! I IMed IQueryArLib (from my brother's account) and asked for fiction titles written by Leonard Cohen. I said I was thinking of a specific book but I couldn't remember the title. In a timely fashion the person looked it up and found what I was looking for. The book, The Favorite Game, was checked out but they offered to put a hold on it for me.
I could use instant messaging in my private life to keep in touch with family and friends. It is a great way to quickly communicate with someone, although the person would also have to be online at the same time.
I do use it now with APL to bother, er, I mean, contact my coworkers in the next cubicle or at the public service desk. Amiel also set up an on-call system for us like upstairs and although we haven't used it yet, I think it could be get. IM for the public is a good idea - they just need to know about it.
Photos
Did it. See if you can find them under "Pet Pictures".

I didn't want to choose a URL because you can't change it. That is too permanent.
